Ernie!

I've started this post a few times now, wondering how I could possibly pay tribute to you when what I'd really like to do is call. I meant to text a few weeks back to check in...It's curious, the effect you had, and continue to have on me. After the first class, I knew you were trustworthy because you shared so much of yourself, struggles included. After more classes than I can now remember, I felt supported in finding the courage to do the same.

When it all felt like too much, and I wanted to quit, you took the time to chat and remind me that we truly contain multitudes, and that UPR was meant to be extended to our own selves as well.

I was really looking forward to years of checking back in.

Your kindness, humor, expertise, and advocacy were an inspiration, and my love and care flow out to all those who will feel your loss profoundly.

I remember this quote from theories class:

"People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be...When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, 'Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner.' I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds."

Carl Rogers

Thank you for witnessing and supporting the continual unfolding for so many. The ripples will continue.
